Friends of BackSpin
| Blue Matter | One of the BEST all around blues bands in the tri-state area. These are the guys who originally forced Jim and Moose to play in front of people. Always track these guys down. They do an open mic at Lefty's Candelight Cafe in Lindenhurst on Hoffman Ave every Wed. One of our heaviest influences. |
| Molly Malone's | Located at the end of Maple Ave in Bay Shore N.Y., Molly's is right next to the F.I. Ferries and is Our Madison Square Garden. One of the last of the "Boater Friendly" places on the South Shore of mainland Long Island. The food is fantastic and they always have music. Joe and Peter have graciously asked us to come play three times this summer/fall. This has been a special spot for us and our families for many years. We usually make a point to come by boat as there's always room and the F.I. rules don't apply. Try the Sheppards Pie......there ain't no better no-where. Update...Come see us for Summer 2008!!! Check the main page for dates and info. |
| Blue Parrot | Located on Merrick Road in Massapequa N.Y., the Blue Parrot is a great place to just hang out in a friendly place and jam. We love to play there. Romeo has graced us with his voice at our last gig and we look forward to playing there every time........generally.....cuz we have a freakin' blast!!!!!! |
| Double R Sports Bar | Double R Sports Bar is located on Connetquot Ave where the split happens just north of Southern State in Islip Terrace N.Y. Big and "Lil" Randy run a great place where they only bring in the best music. Why us...???....who knows, but they call us back and we consider that place one of our "favorites". Many personal friends of the band consider the Double R their "Cheers"..... |
| The Bulldog Grille | Located on Merrick Road (Montauk Hwy) in Amityville, the Bulldog has it all. Outstanding food, great drinks and fantastic atmosphere. There's a separate dining area that allows you to be closed off from the bar as well as dining where you get a great view of the whole scene unfolding below. We had an absolute blast here and got some pretty serious compliments from the crowd. As a native (and current) Amityvillian, I love this place. Close to everyone and just a great place overall. We hope to come back here often and just rock the place. |
| Mustang Sallys | This is another of our old haunts and they've recently brought the bands back. Our first Gig was a full circle for some of us as we've always considered this one of the top 4 or 5 places we wanted to play. Plenty of room for dancin' and great bar food. For you smokers, an awning out back (just keep it to a dull roar). We have them booked two more times in the next month or so and couldn't be happier. Bartenders ROCK as does the music. Click on the name to get a map to their location in West Islip. |
| The Post Office | Post Office is located on Main Street (Montauk Hwy) in Babylon just across from the Babylon Firehouse. This place has the best food and atmosphere around and is family oriented. We loved playing there and hope to book it on a Saturday in the near future. The managers and staff were dancin' in the kitchen and so were the patrons. As the Dinner crowd winds down, get ready for an all out party (every night but expecially when Backspin's playin). |
| Lilly Flanagans | Lilly's is another old haunt. It is still the premier happy hour and executive "meeting place". Lanni auditioned us and now, we hope to be a part of this great establishment in the future. We're already booked for a Friday and Saturday starting in July of 2008 so make sure to come on down. Fantastic atmosphere and great music (provided by your friendly neighborhood Backspin). |
| Twisted Shamrock | Located at the Babylon Train Station in N.Y. This is the first place Moose ever played live with Jim (then known as the "Moose and Jim" show) It's conveniently located close to the train for those "concert goers" who need a couple of quickies and or nightcaps before or after the trek to NYC. Great stage, OTB and Lottery, and super friendly people. John, the owner, is a down to earth guy who really cares about his patrons. |
